Cleaning and loving my home one day at a time

Random facts February 6, 2013

After two years of blogging, I’ve been tagged!

Chelo sent me an email saying she tagged me in her latest post. Tracking back to the blogger who tagged her (and other preceding ones), I learned about the Liebster Blog Award. (Yeah, there’s such a thing.) Basically, it’s a chain-mail, getting-to-know-you sort of thing that goes on amongst bloggers. It’s also a way of passing on blog love to others. To know more about this award, read here.

While I’m grateful to Chelo for tagging me, I had second thoughts about participating in this round robin. Even though I write out my thoughts on my blog, I never really talked about specific personal details. How can I come up with 11 random facts about me? And more importantly, does anyone really want to know what I played with when I was a kid or where I hung out in college?

But, for the fun of it, I’m going to do this. It might take me a while, though, to finish this post.

So, here goes…

11 Random facts about me: (or, more like, facts I’d rather not share to anyone)

1. I have lived in 11 houses, in 6 different cities, in my lifetime (not including the places where I stayed in during college and temporary “exiles”).

2. When I was younger, I secretly experimented with my mom’s make-up kit. Now, I have to exert great effort just to put on lipstick.

3. My earliest recollection of playing with my sister was when I was reading a book to her, pretending to be a teacher. And so, growing up…

4. I wanted to become a grade school teacher. Practicality and peer pressure squashed that dream.

5. Instead, I took up a Bachelor’s in Food Technology. (No, it’s not the same as Nutrition. And it’s not just cooking.)

6. The first time I watched the movie “My Girl”, I cried. I still become teary eyed whenever I watch it.

7. I had bad experiences with cliques or peer groups. (Too much drama!) I guess that’s one reason why I don’t mind being by myself most of the time. Alone but never lonely.

8. I am moody. So there!

9. My greatest asset: good memory

10. My not-so-greatest asset: good memory (Go figure!)…oh, and my feet.

11. I started really learning how to cook only when my son was about 2 years old and began eating regular food. Before that, “cooking” consisted of packaged dinners, ready-made foods or take out meals. I still have a lot to learn but I’m getting there.

Chelo’s questions for me:

1. If you had one day and all the money you needed, what would you do? Shop, dine and lodge at the swankiest part of town. And maybe watch any live shows going on that day.

2. What is your creative outlet? Writing in my blog. Can planning be considered a creative outlet?

3. What did you eat for dinner last night? Leftovers (rice and pork cooked in coconut milk and shrimp paste)

4. If you could become someone else for one day, who would you be? Lea Salonga

5. What is your favorite way to relax? Sleeping, reading, watching TV (in that order)

6. Who inspires you? Hmm…I don’t really need someone to inspire me to do something. If I want, or feel lead, to do something, then I do it, regardless of any inspiration or support (or lack thereof).

7. Why did you start blogging? I created my first (private) blog as a way to vent out my thoughts. It’s an online diary with some literary flair. At the same time, I started to enjoy learning how to cook. I saw all those food blogs and thought to myself, “Why not create one?” So I created this blog as a motivation to be more intentional about learning how to cook as well as becoming better at housekeeping.

8. Favorite food? I don’t really have a top favorite food that quickly comes to mind. I think my preference changed at every stage of my life. When I was a kid, I loved fried chicken, with a very crispy skin. In high school, it’s cheeseburger and fries. In college, anything grilled (pork barbecue, sisig, skewered foods that I won’t mention here). Lately, I crave anything with seafood (sushi, stews). (Although my food list looks so “unhealthful”, I do eat vegetables and fruits whenever I can.)

9. What’s the one thing you would do if you knew you wouldn’t fail? I would be a singer.

10. What are you looking forward to most in 2013? Getting my house completely organized (Does it sound realistic? Oh well, at least I’m aiming for something this year.)

Now I’m tagging 11 bloggers at the bottom and here are the rules:

1. Each blogger should post 11 random facts about themselves.

2. Answer the questions the tagger has set for you, then create 11 new questions for the bloggers you pass the award to.

3. Choose 11 new bloggers (with less than 200 followers) to pass the award to and link them in your post. (Sorry, some of the bloggers I’ve chosen may have more than 200 followers.)

4. Go to their page and tell them about the award.

5. No tag backs.

The questions:

1. If you can time travel, where or when would you go back to? Why?

2. What is one thing that you would want to try doing if given a chance?

3. Was there another career that you wished you pursued other than the one you have right now?

4. What time of day do you function best: morning, noon, evening?

5. Do you cook? What’s your best dish?

6. If you’re a writer, what genre would your book be?

7. What’s your favorite movie? Why?

8. What city, state or country do you want to visit?

9. What’s the one word that best describe you?

10. In a party, what’s the first food that you grab?

11. What kind of music do you listen to?

Hey, I wanna get organized this year too. So far, I’m only a month behind…Hmmm. 😉 Good luck. Are you using a method or book? Or just going from most needed to least needed or vice-versa?

    • Sheila's avatar Sheila Says:

I’m not really following any book or method this time. I just try to do what needs to be done at the moment and at the same time tackling the ones that have been neglected for (gulp!) years. I do however read and follow as much as I can Rachel Ann @ homesanctuary.com
